Easy-Reset chain, crank, and motor operators
A must-have feature is the ability to automatically close a door for security, safety, or fire alarm purposes without replacing the serviceable operator's lifetime. Easy-Reset chain, crank, and motor operators keep maintenance costs at a minimum by reducing the time and number of required starts to activate the closing sequence. All units reset quickly via a fusible link or thermal device. it has been necessary to manually reset a fire door which could prolong an evacuation and potentially put lives at risk. A cheaper and more reliable method of resettling a door is through time delay closing operators. These are compact and easy to install, fitting easily behind the standard fire door header. In the event of an alarm or detector activation, the door will automatically close in time delay mode.
This time delay is triggered upon alarm or detector activation. When the alarm is activated, this adjustment will cause the operator to close the door at a slower closure rate for a 7-second duration. The discharge contacts in the operator will be turned off during this opening cycle, so the sensor beam will not be interrupted. Upon a loss of power to the operator upon alarm activation, an internal release arm will move until it bridges two terminals within the operator after the delayed closing cycle has observed completion. This action provides a fail-safe state that reliably releases all connections in case of a power outage or an unexpected loss of electrical power to the unit during an opening or closing cycle.
There is no need to reset or wait for manual intervention. Upon power loss, through the internal release and governor, the door will automatically be reset again when power supplies are restored. Time-delayed closing upon alarm activation. Fail-safe closing upon a loss of power. The Easy-Reset ensures your facility remains secure and protected even during power outages. To meet the requirements of fire and life safety codes, the door must remain closed during an alarm condition and must remain closed during a loss of power. To achieve this before the advent of DC drives, doors would have an automatic reset upon restoration of power or annunciation of a false alarm. * A chain or removable awning crank handle is used to open the door; a convenient pull cable is used to close or stop the door at any position. A locking handle release in a surface or flush mount enclosure can be optionally provided to prevent unauthorized closing*.
Controlled operation of signal, gate, and barrier doors that lead to areas where the protection of personnel is paramount or where security issues can be accomplished with chain or motor operators containing a time delay function. The "Auto-Reset" safety feature is designed to ensure that doors can immediately be reopened in the event of an alarm activation or after being closed in a power failure. Controls are available with a combination of both time delay and manual reset.

(Requires the door to be provided with a monitored sensing edge power must be present) and the sensing edge must be functioning correctly.
